We’re supporting a large, nationally critical organisation<\/strong> in the North West to appoint a Head of Programmes & Projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Operating within complex and highly regulated environments, this organisation delivers a vast portfolio of work spanning infrastructure, digital, and operational transformation. With thousands of employees and a multi-billion-pound programme landscape<\/strong>, this is a genuinely unique opportunity to lead at scale.<\/p>\n

This role sits at the heart of a significant delivery challenge – bringing structure, pace, and cohesion across a wide-ranging portfolio of programmes and projects.<\/p>\n

\n

The Role<\/h3>\n

This is a senior leadership position<\/strong>, responsible for:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Leading a large portfolio of programmes and projects<\/strong> across multiple workstreams<\/li>\n
  • Managing and developing a team of ~150+ delivery professionals<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Driving consistency, governance, and delivery discipline<\/strong> across a complex environment<\/li>\n
  • Bringing together fragmented delivery functions into a cohesive operating model<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Leading delivery across digital, business change, and operational programmes<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Acting as a key senior stakeholder<\/strong>, influencing at executive and board level<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This role is about leadership, integration, and delivery at scale<\/strong> – not just oversight.<\/p>\n

    • Large-scale programme delivery (multi £m \/ £bn portfolios)<\/li>\n
    • Agile and digital delivery within complex environments<\/li>\n
    • Transformation of project delivery capability and maturity<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Business process improvement and organisational change<\/li>\n
    • Cross-functional integration across multiple disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n

      What We’re Looking For<\/h3>\n

      We’re looking for a proven senior leader<\/strong> who thrives in complexity:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Significant experience leading major programmes or portfolios<\/strong> in complex environments (infrastructure, defence, energy, government, etc.)<\/li>\n
      • Experience managing large, multi-disciplinary teams (100+ people)<\/strong><\/li>\n
      • Strong grounding in:\n
          \n
        • Programme & project delivery (APM \/ MSP \/ PRINCE2 or equivalent)<\/li>\n
        • Change & transformation<\/li>\n
        • Governance and assurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments<\/strong> is highly desirable<\/li>\n
        • Comfortable operating at Executive \/ Director level<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
