They require an experienced engineer with extensive experience in building and maintaining Data Lakehouses in Azure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both Scala and Python programming, with specific experience building high performance and scalable pipelines in Databricks with Spark.

The new data platform will serve a range of end users in the Capital Markets division, so experience across areas such as derivatives, risk, PnL, trade lifecycle, market data are highly desired. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer robust, scalable and efficient data pipelines using Spark/Databricks 
  • Demonstrate best practices in the design & development of data pipelines

    Data Engineer required by a global and marketing leading communications company on a 12 month interim contract to support a major IT transformation programme. 

    The need a Python and SQL expert to desing and deploy scalable data soltuions to capture, manage/store and utilize high volumes of structed and unstructured data from various internal and external sources. This person will work with a lot of autonomey, and will need to be able to comfortably work independently, taking owndership of their work. 

    12 month initial contract

    Circa £500 per day, Inside IR35 

    Location: City of London, 2 days per week (Hybrid) 

    Skill set required: 

    • Expert level (5+ years’ experience) with SQL and Python
    • Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
    • Familiar with Airflow
    • Data processing frameworks (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, FluentBit, RabbitMQ)
    • Data warehousing solutions (e.g. PostgreSQL, BigQuery)
    • Cloud Platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Platform or AWS)
    • CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
    • Containerization solutions (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes)
    • Version control systems (e.g. Git)

    Start: Mid October 2025
