Data Engineering & Infrastructure Lead (Contract)
La Fosse are recruiting an experienced Data Engineering & Infrastructure Lead (Manager) to join a major consumer brand on an initial 6-month contract. This is a high-impact role leading a highly-skilled team of data professionals across engineering and data platform disciplines, delering a range of critical data initiatives for the business.
The role requires 1 day per week on-site in Manchester and the remainder remote.
The role: You’ll take ownership of delivering key data engineering and data platform initiatives while providing technical leadership across a sizeable engineering function. This includes ensuring the stability, scalability, and 24/7 operation of a production data environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary data team, including a Data Engineers and Data Platform Engineers
- Ensure high-quality, timely delivery across all data engineering activities
- Collaborate with project managers, delivery leads, and business stakeholders to align with priorities
- Oversee delivery of major initiatives, including:
- Database upgrade/migration
- Lakehouse Analytics Platform build and ongoing operation
- Contribute to portfolio planning, representing team capacity and technical direction
- Define and implement engineering standards and operational processes
- Own and manage the backlog for data platform engineering work
Key Skills & Experience
- Expertise in MS SQL Server, AWS EC2, and Snowflake
- Strong working knowledge of modern data technology, preferabely Airflow, SSIS, dbt, and Azure DevOps or Jira
- Proven experience leading and scaling technical teams
- Strong stakeholder management and delivery oversight skills
